Preparedness levels have been heightened at all hospitals around Egypt in preparation for Eid al-Fitr, an important Muslim holiday, said Minister of Health Amr Helmy. Eid al-Fitr will take place this year on 30 August.

Abdel Hamid Abaza, assistant minister of health for technical affairs, said the ministry asked hospitals to raise their preparedness levels during the holiday, such that there are doctors at all hospitals around the clock.

Abaza added that the ministry will dispatch teams to monitor hospitals’ performance during Eid al-Fitr.

He also said he asked health officials to make sure hospitals are properly equipped with medical supplies and blood donations.
