The interior minister has submitted a report to Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri outlining the plan to secure vital establishments after the presidential election result is announced, a Cabinet source said.

The source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the Interior Ministry plans to intensify security presence, in cooperation with the ruling military council, and protect police stations and government institutions if violence erupts after the vote result is announced.

German news agency DPA reported that the police and the army have sent additional forces along the Suez Canal, at the border with Gaza and Israel and in Sinai.

DPA cited a security source as saying these are precautionary measures to maintain order following the announcement of the election winner.

Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsy faced former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq in the runoff election that took place Saturday and Sunday. Unofficial results show Morsy in the lead.
