Two thousand Abu Zaabal Chemicals factory workers staged protests on Monday, demanding the resignation of the company’s board of directors and better wages.

The workers demanded to be compensated at the same level as their colleagues at other factories owned by the Ministry of Military Production. They also demanded the guaranteed employment of their children in the factory.

Salem Ryan, chairman of the labor committee, said he did not know anything about the protests.

Since the 25 January revolution, Egypt has seen many labor protests against low wages, lack of health insurance and social security, and management abuses.
