Media channels should not broadcast the funerals of the two protesters recently killed in violent clashes in Cairo and Damanhour in order to avoid fuelling passions, said presidential adviser Ayman al-Sayyed on Monday.

Masses turned out in Tahrir Square on Monday for the funeral of 17-year-old April 6 Youth Movement member Gaber Salah, while thousands also came out for the funeral of 15-year-old Muslim Brotherhood Youth member Islam Fathy in Damanhour.

On his Twitter, Sayyed said that thugs had killed Gaber and Fathy, and they were the only ones who benefitted from these deaths.

Sayyed also tweeted that he found himself in a difficult position as, “Those who call themselves Islamists consider me an atheist, while liberals call me an obscurantist. Everyone only listens to themselves.”

The presidential advisory panel has chosen to be “part of the solution” to the current political unrest, he said, rather than part of the problem. The panel has suggested several actions, such as President Mohamed Morsy meeting with the Supreme Judicial Council, he added.
