Mehleb says government trying to control universities

The government is trying to provide a safe environment for universities to prevent access of weapons, said Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, urging public support in order to be able to fulfill its duty.

In a press conference at cabinet on Wednesday, Mehleb said that anyone who cannot carry out duties, should leave the position.

Regarding the two accidents at schools, Mehleb wondered, “How could the minister have a direct responsibility for 48,000 schools?”

Two students died in their schools when an iron gate fell on one of them, while the other fell into the cesspool.

Mehleb also said that the government seeks to preserve the educational process, adding that a specific group is targeting the work of police by stirring up unrest between police and students.
