Party chief expects former interim president to become parliamentary speaker

Reform and Development Party Chief Mohamed Anwar al-Sadat expects President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to appoint former interim President Adly Mansour, head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, so he can run for the parliamentary speaker position.

Sadat said this would be a new year’s surprise as such a move would make some groups rethink their stance regarding the legitimacy of the elections.

According to Sadat, Mansour is not seeking the post.  However, he could consider this as a call to take charge of the coming parliament, being a person who enjoys the trust and appreciation of everyone.

In its coming meetings, Egyptian Wafd Alliance will tackle the outcome of Sisi’s meeting with the political parties, Sadat said. It’s also ready to start communications with civil parties in response to the president’s call to unite civil forces and will welcome any communication.
