Police shot to death a suspect in North Sinai Thursday when he allegedly fired on them as they were pulling over his vehicle, according to security officials.

Another suspect in the car reportedly escaped. The two people allegedly fired on police stationed on a road between Bir al-Abd and Arish. Police returned fire, killing one of the suspects, according to
Assistant head of the North Sinai Security Directorate Ali al-Azazy.

Police confiscated machine guns and ammunition from the car and authorities are attempting to identify the victim and find the second person who escaped.
