Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has sent the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces the names of seven ministers he wishes to be removed from cabinet, claiming that they are not carrying forward the aims of the revolution, according to official sources. The military council has rejected Sharaf's request.

The sources, say that Sharaf has identified the seven ministers as unable to quickly meet the demands of the revolution or get rid of the remnants of the former regime.

The ministers, most of whom served under the former regime, have disagreed with some of Sharaf’s policies for social justice, and have failed in general to cooperate with the new cabinet.

One of the ministers disagreed with the dissolution of the local councils, a move demanded by the revolutionaries, and asked Sharaf to challenge the court ruling that was issued in this regard.

The sources said Sharaf might tender his resignation if the listed ministers remain at their posts.
