Prisoner killed in jail break attempt

A prisoner was shot dead during an escape attempt on Friday at Akhmim Prison in Sohag.
While the police force was inspecting the prison, one detainee assaulted a police officer, seized his machine gun and fired shots into the air as he fled.
Officers exchanged fire with the offender and injured him, but at the same time four other inmates tried to escape.
One of the prisoners stabbed and injured a police officer with a knife, when another police officer shot and killed him.
The Interior Ministry released a statement saying that the prosecution is looking into the incident and security forces are currently searching for the three other inmates who escaped.
