A prisoner at Ataka prison in Suez was killed in clashes between the police and prisoners' families trying to break in to free their relatives.
The prisoner's death comes as the Armed Forces announced that all of the prison's inmates would be transferred to a more secure facility because of continued threats.
Suez has been witnessing a security void after protesters stormed three police stations, and police have remained absent from the city's streets since Saturday.
