Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim arrived in Cairo late on Monday for a two-day visit.

Jassim is to meet with Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and President Mohamed Morsy on Tuesday to discuss the relations between the two nations, and ways to boost economic, trade and investment ties during this critical period.

On 29 December former Finance Minister Momtaz al-Saeed said Egypt had recently received the final installment of the total US$2 billion loan promised by Qatar.

Egypt has spent more than $20 billion in foreign reserves to support the pound since the popular uprising that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak in early 2011.
