Two farmers were killed and a third injured on Wednesday by masked gunmen in Wadi al-Malak, in the township of Abou Hammad, Sharqiya Governorate.

Residents of the area blocked the Abou Hammad-Belbeis road and burned car tires for more than one hour to protest the lack of security.

A report on the incident has been filed and prosecution has begun investigations.

Al-Sayyed Mostafa, 33, and Edi Mansour, 28, were killed in the attack. Khaled Mahmoud, 40, was injured in his leg. All three were transferred to Abou Hammad Central Hospital.

According to investigations, the victims were attacked by masked men from a side road. The assailants shot several times and then fled the scene. The families of the victims have not made any accusations as to who could have been behind the attack.
