Former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman’s body is expected to arrive in Cairo on Saturday morning after being delayed due to procedures in the US, airport sources said.
Suleiman’s body will be accompanied from America by his daughters.
The funeral will be held at Aal Rashdan Mosque in Nasr City at dawn Saturday.
Cairo International Airport authorities have implemented tight security measures, including setting up checkpoints on streets leading to the airport, deploying greater numbers of plainclothes and uniformed security personnel and increasing security at the entrances and exits of various halls.
Airport authorities have taken measures to ensure that the arrival of Suleiman’s body as well as foreign delegations and dignitaries to attend the funeral would not affect flights or the movement of passengers through the airport, the sources added.
