12 suspects of Mansoura terrorist cell detained pending investigations

Supreme state security prosecution decided on Sunday remanding 12 suspects, members of Mansoura cell, into custody for 15 days pending investigations.

Investigators say that the the cell was funded by the Muslim Brotherhood and that the suspects came back from North Sinai after the crackdown imposed on them by security, which forced them to escape to Sharqiya then to Daqahliya to carry out several terrorist schemes.

Suspects are accused of forming terrorist group, planning to kill military and police personnel, targeting state institutions, possessing explosives, arms and maps for specific targeted places. However, they denied all the charges saying that the seized items were not from them.

Suspects had earlier confessed to national security agency officers that they formed the cell to target policemen, their properties and vital establishments and that they possessed the seized items to use them at terrorist operations. They added that they were intending to carry out a huge terrorist action at a nearby governorate to distract attention of Daqahliya security services. However, they denied all the confessions during investigations at prosecution.
