18 students injured in a school bus accident in 6 October city

18 students were injured when a school bus was overturned in 6th of October city on Wednesday morning. All the injured passengers have been transferred to Dar al-Fouad hospital for examination and treatment.

Residents of 6th of October City filed a report saying a school bus overturned on al-Mehwar road, leaving 18 students injured.

A security source said that all the injuries were minor. The driver has been arrested, and investigations are underway to establish the reason for the accident.

In December, the government’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics said the number of car accidents during the first half of 2015 rose by 3.5 percent to a total of 6,916 accidents, compared to 6,685 accidents during the same period in 2014.

The number of deaths, however, decreased by 2.7 percent, from 3,025 to 2,808 deaths in the first half of 2015.

Only five percent of road accidents are blamed on the condition of roads.

Egypt has one of the world’s highest traffic accident mortality rates.
