49 Egyptians arrested over attempting illegal immigration into Libya

Marsa Matrouh security services arrested on Monday 49 illegal immigrants from the provinces of Beni Suef, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Minya, Damietta, Beheira, Kafr al-Sheikh and Cairo, in addition to other six Sudanese nationals and six Bengalis, while they were attempting to illegally cross the border with Libya.

One of the Sudanese suspects had an expired passport. Egyptian and Sudanese nationals were arrested in a hotel in the border city of Salloum. A police report has been filed and the suspects will be referred to prosecution for further investigations.

Egypt had earlier warned against traveling to Libya due to the violent and unstable situation in the country.
