FJP says withdrawal from presidential race indicates ‘manipulation of results’

Following Khalid Ali's decision not to run in the presidential election, Hamza Zoubaa, official spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, said the annoucement proves that the political system is being controlled.

“Frequent withdrawals by presidential candidates is an absolute evidence on manipulation of the official results of the elections and filter candidates to make way for the Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, defense minister, to reach the president post without competition,” he said.

Zoubaa said in remarks on Sunday that “all those who withdrew from the presidential race have found out the farce declared by Sisi to make the others imagine there is a proper democratic process.”

Ahmed Badei, spokesperson of the Salafi Watan Party, said “withdrawal of Khaled Ali from presidential race indicates that what happens is a farce.”

Badei told Al-Masry Al-Youm that “the party will not support any presidential candidate. Hamdeen Sabbahi is a completion for the farce.”
