Hatem Ouda, head of the Astronomy and Geophysical Research Institute, said 23 December will mark the beginning of the third hijri month of Rabei al-Awal. Prophet Mohamed’s Birthday, known as al-Mulid al-Nabawi in Arabic, will be celebrated on 3 January (12th Rabei al-Awal).
In remarks on Monday, Ouda said that the second month of Safar will be 30 days ending on 22 December.
