Elections update: Brotherhood vows to fight on despite fraud claims

Leading Muslim Brotherhood (MB) member Mohamed Morsy on Sunday said MB parliamentary candidates would continue to fight it out at the polls until final elections results were announced.

“In spite of all the ruling regime's excesses–which include terrorizing citizens and rigging votes–we will persevere to the end,” he said.

Morsi went on to accuse the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) of electoral fraud, which, he said, would serve to render Egypt's incoming parliament "illegitimate." He also held the NDP responsible for mounting public frustration, which, he warned, could have an adverse impact on Egypt's security and stability.

Mohamed al-Beltagi, member of the MB's parliamentary bloc, had said on Saturday that the group would withdraw from the races
if security forces continued to harass its candidates.
