Heat wave hits Egypt on Friday and Saturday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects an intense heat wave across most parts of the country on Friday and Saturday, with very hot weather prevailing across most areas.

Friday’s weather will be very hot during the day and moderate at night across most parts of the country, with active winds stirring up sand and dust in areas of the western coast, the northwestern desert, and southern Upper Egypt intermittently.

 

Peak and minimum temperatures

The peak of the heatwave will be on Saturday, with a maximum temperature of 40C in Greater Cairo and 45C in southern Upper Egypt.

Starting from Sunday, temperatures will gradually drop across the north of the country, including Greater Cairo, by values ​​ranging from five degrees to seven degrees.

 

Expected temperatures on Friday:

  • Hurghada, Alexandria: 35C
  • Matrouh, Sharm El-Sheikh: 36C
  • Cairo: 37C
  • Aswan: 42C
  • Luxor: 41C
