
CAIRO, Sept 12 (MENA) – Egypt’s Ambassador to Australia Hany Nagi hosted Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist Prof. Brian Schmidt at a high-level cultural event in Canberra, held in cooperation with the Canberra International Music Festival.
The event drew prominent political figures, diplomats, business leaders, and cultural figures, including the former Senate president, according to a statement released by the foreign ministry in Cairo.
In his opening remarks, Nagi described the event as a bridge between civilizations, highlighting music and science as tools for fostering mutual understanding and respect. He invited guests to visit Egypt and showcased a documentary on the Grand Egyptian Museum, which received strong interest.
Prof. Schmidt praised the cultural initiative and emphasized the role of art and science in enhancing human connection and global harmony.
The evening featured a fusion performance using the Egyptian rebaba and the buzuq, earning wide acclaim for its artistic depth and cultural resonance.
