
Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his accompanying delegation visited the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Giza Pyramids plateau on Wednesday evening April 22,2026 as part of his official visit to Egypt.
Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif accompanied the high-level Finnish delegation.
Welcoming the delegation at the museum, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority Ahmed Ghoneim took them on a tour covering the museum’s halls, the main lobby, the Grand Staircase, and the King Tutankhamen galleries.
The Finnish delegation expressed their admiration for the museum’s unique artifacts and the quality of the exhibition displays.
After the museum tour, the Finnish president visited the Giza Pyramids Complex, where he was welcomed by renowned archaeologist Ashraf Mohie al-Din, director-general of Cairo and Giza Antiquities.
The Finnish president expressed his fascination with the Great Pyramid, describing it as an engineering and architectural miracle. He also showed great interest in the excavation underway in the area.
