The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts warm autumn-like weather for Sunday, ranging from slightly hot to hot during the day across the north of the country—extending to Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt—while remaining intensely hot in southern Upper Egypt.
Conditions will turn cooler at night and in the early morning.
Weather charts indicate a roughly 30 percent chance of light rain in parts of the northern coast, and a roughly 20 percent chance of intermittent moderate rain in the northern Lower Egypt.
There is an approximately 40 percent chance of light to moderate rain—occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms—in parts of southern Upper Egypt.
Rainfall leading to flash floods may occur in areas of central and South Sinai, the Gulf of Aqaba, and parts of the Red Sea Governorate at intermittent intervals.
The EMA also noted windy conditions in parts of Greater Cairo, with winds potentially raising sand and dust in areas of central and South Sinai, southern Upper Egypt, and the southern Eastern Desert at intermittent intervals.
The authority warned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by strong winds—caused by downdrafts beneath the storm clouds—as well as lightning strikes in certain areas.
