Agreement signed with British airport security company confidential: company spokesperson

The items of the agreement signed between the British Control Risks Company and Egyptian authorities to secure Egyptian airports are confidential as well as the budget of the agreement, said spokesperson Georgina Parks.

Increased global security concerns urged Egyptian authorities to hire the company, said Parks, who refused to answer questions about the company's past experience in the field of airport security.

The development of tourism facilities is a priority for the Egyptian government, so the government has chosen Control Risks to review the security measures of tourists and citizens at airports, Parks mentioned.

Parks said the company would start with inspecting security measures at Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh airports, and would submit a report of recommendations to Egyptian authorities about security shortcomings.

Airport staff will be given training programs to raise their efficiency in accordance to international standards, she added.

Contracting with a leading global company to assess the security of airports is a great opportunity to adopt global standards to enhance aviation security in the country, said Ahmed Geneina, Chairman of Cairo International Airport.
