Ahly Football Club members request removal of the board

A number of Ahly Football Club members have requested the dismissal of the football club's managerial board, calling on the general assembly to remove the club's director, Moharam al-Ragheb, and other senior officials.

The demands follow the summoning for investigation of board Chairman Hassan Hamdi by the attorney general on charges of illegal gains and financial violations he allegedly committed within the state-owned Al-Ahram Advertising Agency, of which he is the managing director.

For his part, club member Mohamed al-Husseini said the board should be removed regardless of whether or not Hamdi is convicted.

“It is not important who manages the club,” he said. “We must first cleanse it of corruption.”
