Amr al-Leithy to discuss atheism in his program

Amr al-Leithy of the Al-Hayat 1 satellite channel is hosting students of Misr University who produced a film about atheism for their graduation project at the Faculty of Mass Communication. He is also hosting a psychologist and a clergyman to discuss the topic.

The program is broadcast at 10 pm.

The topic of atheism is very controversial in Egypt and can result in jail time, using Egypt's laws against blastphemy, if any statements are considered promoting the ideology.

In January, 21-year-old old Karim al-Banna was sentenced to three years in jail by a Beheira court when he announced on Facebook he was an atheist.
