Anti-Morsy protesters shut down Mugamma

Dozens of protesters against President Mohamed Morsy closed down the Mugamma overlooking Tahrir Saturday, as demonstrations against the president continued.

Protesters closed off the entrances with razor wire, preventing employees and others from accessing the building and leading to disputes between them and protesters.

Members of popular committees were also present at all entrances leading to the Square, in a move by protesters to tighten security in the area.

Meanwhile, calm prevailed around the presidential palace in Heliopolis, following mass protests staged there on Friday against Morsy’s 22 November constitutional declaration and the constitution referendum slated for 15 December.

Even as demonstrations subsided, however, protesters said that they will not end their sit-in until Morsy cancels the constitutional declaration and the referendum.

Graffiti drawings were visible on the wall that security forces recently erected in front of the Heliopolis Club, as well as the fence surrounding the palace.
