Blackout in Ras Gharib for 24 hours

Electricity was cut on Wednesday in the whole city of Ras Gharib for 24 hours.

The Natural Gas Company has been blamed for the blackout because it allegedly did not supply enough gas to operate the generating turbines, but it said there was a malfunction at the main station in Ras Shukheir.

Engineer Shoukry Yousef, head of the Red Sea Electricity Department, said the ministers of electricity and oil ordered to solve the problem as soon as possible. “Ras Gharib will be connected to the unified network in January,” he said.
