Book Fair visitors displeased with closing Metro stations

The company managing and operating the Metro lines on Tuesday closed the Kobri al-Qubba, Sarai al-Qubba and Hamamat al-Qubba stations for urgent maintenance purposes and because they are close to the Qubba Palace in which the Egyptian-Russian summit between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin is taking place.

The closure caused a low turnout at the Cairo International Book Fair.

Security was tightened around the Fairground complex as President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin are visiting it on Tuesday.

There are 26 countries participating in the fair, including Russia.

Security banned visitors from using the main gate on Salah Salem Street and provided buses to take them to the Al-Rashdan gate.
