Brotherhood attacks Sisi upon announcement to donate half his salary

The Muslim Brotherhood has attacked President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as he announced donating half of his wealth to Egypt .

The group leaders wondered about the value of the president’s wealth, method of donation and way of monitoring the process.

Hamza Zoubaa, leader of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) who is currently in Qatar, said in a statement, “Who knows the value of Sisi’s wealth? Who could disclose truth of his donation or if he would fulfill his promise or not?”

Outgoing president Adly Mansour issued decision before leaving office to increase salary of the president, he said, adding that Sisi now donates half of his salary as if nothing happened. He considered that the president “seeks approaching people through his remarks.”

“This will not happen. Every citizen knows well that Sisi’s remarks are only a ‘media show’.”

Ahmed al-Baqry, member of the student division within the Muslim Brotherhood, said “There are specific targets behind his remarks to give reason to the government to stop any raise in salaries and reject demands as well as increasing prices and removing subsidy.”

During graduation ceremony at the Military College, Sisi said he will donate half of his salary to support the Egyptian economy.

Mansour earlier issued law making the president’s salary LE42,000.
