The Muslim Brotherhood and the Freedom and Justice Party continued its campaign to support President Mohamed Morsy’s decisions by holding meetings across Egypt about the nomination of new Prime Minister Hesham Qandil.
Karim Radwan, the head of the group’s office in south Cairo, said that the Brotherhoold and the FJP held meetings with representatives of different movements to bolster support for Qandil and Morsy’s 100-day program.
A member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s shura council said that the party seeks to raise awareness about Morsy keeping his promise to choose a prime minister from outside the Brotherhood.
The group expected liberals and secularists to criticize the president as they reject anyone with an Islamist background, he said, adding that the Brotherhood trusts the average citizen to only care about the prime minister’s performance, not his background.
The head of the Muslim Brotherhood’s office in Beni Suef, Mohamed Abdallah, said the group held a meeting Wednesday after Qandil’s nomination with 12 parties and political movements in Sharqiya to garner support for the president's choice.
