Butane gas cylinder crisis almost over in Cairo, says governor

The butane gas cylinder crisis is now over in Cairo, after several days of flooding the market with additional cylinders, Cairo Governor Abdel Qawy Khaleefa announced on Thursday.

According to the governor, gas cylinders are being distributed under the supervision of the Ministry of Supply, with the assistance of district heads and popular committees.

Khaleefa added that the governorate and the Butagasco Company are coordinating efforts to cover areas in Cairo where gas cylinders are scarce.

According to official figures, the number cylinders in Cairo has been increased by 28 percent, rising from 85,161 to 109,273.

Additional quantities of fuel and petroleum products, such as gasoline, diesel fuel and natural gas, have also been increased to cover Cairo’s needs, Khaleefa added.
