Cabinet to develop short, long term plans: New PM

New Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has said that the Cabinet will develop short and long term plans to achieve specific goals, including improving services provided to citizens.

The Cabinet will focus on health, education, garbage and controlling prices, Ismail added on the sidelines of the general assembly meeting with the El-Wadi Holding and the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company.

The Cabinet will focus on the implementation of national projects in the announced timeline, he said, stressing that he would work on meeting the state budget deficit and providing the needs of the state with regards to foreign exchange, in the short term.

Ismail mentioned that he met with several ministerial nominees, but refused to disclose further details about the new Cabinet, deeming it too early.

"We are still negotiating and we are committed to announcing the formation (of the new Cabinet) on time," he said.

The prime minister pointed out that ministries could be introduced, merged or separated.

The president has assigned Ismail to form a new Cabinet within one week.
