Cairo governor says to buy 500 buses for public transportation with World Bank funding

Cairo Governor Galal Mostafa Saeed agreed with World Bank representatives to afford costs of purchasing 500 new buses for public transportation within the governorate plan to double the Public Transport Authority’s fleet as well as replacing and maintaining the old ones.
 
The agreement included developing the Heliopolis tramway and extending to reach New Cairo in coordination with the Ministries of Housing and Transportation. It will also include studies to develop the authority’s establishments, garages and workshops as well as raising efficiency of technicians and workers.
 
During the meeting, Saeed said he stressed that coordination has been ongoing to activate the Greater Cairo urban transportation authority and move its administration to the Cairo governorate.
