CAPMAS: 10.6% increase in the number of tourists in March 2015

834,600 tourists from all over the world arrived in Egypt during February 2015, compared to 754,700 tourists during March 2014, which represents an increase of 10.6 percent, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in its March 2015 bulletin.
 
Western European tourists ranked first during March 2015, representing 37.8 percent of all visitors, followed by Eastern Europeans with 37.3 percent and visitors from the Middle East, with 13.7 percent.
 
The number of departing tourists reached 76,100 people during March 2015, compared to 69,770 tourists during March 2014, which amounts to a 9.1 percent increase.
 
Foreign tourists have spent a total of 7.6 million nights in Egyptian hotels in March 2015, compared to 6.7 million nightduring the same month in 2014, an increase of 12.8 percent.
 
Western European tourists had the largest share in the number of nights with 41.3 percent, followed by East Europeans with 24.9 percent, and visitors from the Middle East with 16.7 percent.
 
The number of Arab tourists reached 141,900 in March 2015, compared to 119,209 in the same month of 2014 – an increase of 19.1 percent. Arab tourists spent 1,4 million nights in Egyprian hotels in March this year, 20.9 percent more than in March last year, when the figure reched 1,2 million (19 oercent of the total amount of stays).
 
An average tourist spent 10 nights in Egypt in March 2015, compared to 9.6 nights during the same month in 2014.
