Court upholds asset freeze against Brotherhood figures

North Cairo Criminal Court has upheld an earlier decision by Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat to freeze the assets of several leading figures in the Muslim Brotherhood.
 
Barakat ordered an asset freeze on 24 Islamist figures including Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, his deputy Khairat al-Shater and Mahmoud Ezzat.
 
Mahdi Akef, Mohamed Saad al-Katatny, Rashad al-Bayoumy, Essam Erian, Essam Sultan, Safwat Hegazy, Mohamed al-Beltagy, Assem Abdel Maged and Hazem Abu Ismail were also marked for the freeze.
