Super League in Africa

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe announced at the “FIFPRO Africa” conference in Gaborone, Botswana that “In October of this year, the African Super League will kick off.”

“We may change the name of the competition, because some of the big sponsors say that the reputation of the Super League in Europe was not good.”

“If you associate the name of the Super League with the sport of football, this has negative connotations. We may change the name, but currently we will continue to use the African Super League until we change it,” he concluded.
