Defendants referred to court for allegedly destroying Tahrir memorial, burning Egyptian flag

Downtown Cairo prosecution referred three defendants accused of committing acts of violence and smashing the memorial in Tahrir Square to Qar al-Nil Misdemeanor Court on Sunday.
 
It also referred a defendant allegedly caught on camera burning the Egyptian flag during the commemoration of Mohamed Mahmoud street in November.
 
The prosecution accused the three defendants of crowding, using force and possessing a bladed weapon. 
 
Investigations said that defendants sabotaged the memorial after a demonstration by security forces.
 
The prosecution also referred 11 defendants to urgent trial, nine to a misdemeanor court and the other two underage defendants to minor court on charges of committing acts of violence and crowding in the 16 December events in front of the cabinet building.
