Detention renewed for six suspects over Tahrir sexual assault

Qasr Al-Nil Misdemeanor Court renewed the detention of six suspects for 15 days pending investigations in the sexual assault of women in Tahrir square.  

 

The assaults took place during celebrations on President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's inauguration day.

 

The suspects arrived at the court under high security measures. 

Prosecutors said the suspects sexually assaulted the women in Tahrir Square, stripped off their clothes and injured them using bladed weapons. 

They face charges of indecent assault and robbery.

The prosecution also decided to refer one child to a juvenile facility.
