Dissident Brotherhood members to launch new website

An internal opposition faction within the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s largest Islamist opposition group, will announce its online presence next week in the form of Ikhwan Islahyoon–the “Reformist Brotherhood.”

The faction also plans to convene by the end of this month to discuss amending the Muslim Brotherhood’s bylaws.

The new website will contain mainly news material along with articles on intellectual topics, according to Khaled Dawood, a senior leader within the opposition faction.

“The website will be open for all points of view,” Dawood told Al-Masry Al-Youm, saying that even criticism of the faction will be allowed. He added that the reformist faction does not intend to copy the Brotherhood’s official website, on which they are not offered the chance to voice their views.

The front was formed as a protest against the group’s participation in November’s parliamentary elections, which observers said was marred by fraud.
