Egypt denies Qadhafi troops entered Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Sunday denied that troops loyal to Muammar Qadhafi’s regime entered the Egyptian Embassy in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

News reports said Qadhafi's troops entered the embassy grounds in Tripoli to take cover from NATO attacks. In a press statement, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Menha Bakhoum said the news "is totally false."

Bakhoum said the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli is still open to the Egyptian community in Libya despite difficult circumstances the country is facing.

She added that the Foreign Ministry will spare no effort to serve the interests of Egyptian citizens abroad and at home, whatever the circumstances.
