Egyptian adventurer to partake in UNESCO’s heritage event

An Egyptian adventurer will partake in events held in Egypt, on Thursday, marking the UNESCO #Unite4Heritage campaign.

Sherif Lotfi, who rode his motorcycle across three continents over the past few years becoming the first Egyptian to arrive in Japan on a bike, will attend the celebrations, according to Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damati. Lotfi will tour the Giza Pyramids hoisting the Egyptian flag.

Damati said the celebrations will include cultural events and artistic performances and will be attended by university students and public dignitaries.

“Unite4Heritage is a global movement powered by UNESCO that aims to celebrate and safeguard cultural heritage and diversity around the world,” says the campaign’s website. It “calls on everyone to stand up against extremism and radicalization by celebrating the places, objects and cultural traditions that make the world such a rich and vibrant place.”
