Egyptian feminist group calls for women conference supporting Sisi in elections

A feminist NGO on Saturday said on Saturday it is organizing a popular conference on February 10 to show support for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the upcoming presidential election, to rule for a second term in office.

Head of Egyptian Women Assembly Manal al-Absy said in a statement that the conference will join women and young ladies from all of Egypt’s governorates to support the president in the elections.

She added that all mechanisms and plans are being studied to make the campaign succeed in supporting the president, and its continuity in all governorates of Egypt.

Absy added that the rapid developments in the Middle East require all political forces in Egypt to unite and stand by the state in its fight against terrorism and to confront external and internal conspiracies. And therefore the Egyptian women, who have been at the top of political activity since the January 25 Revolution, have to pay back and support president Sisi to preserve the land of Egypt, as this is about national security.

Absy explained that the conference is a popular message to rally behind the political leadership in all positions, especially that the country is going through a very serious historical period.

She added that the conference is also a message to “His Excellency the President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the loyal national man who restored the status of women at all levels.”

“The campaign will not only stand at the limits of the conference, but it is hoped that committees be formed of people with expertise and competencies to provide ideas and good visions to be implemented in the coming days,” Absy said.
