Egyptian girl abducted in Libya

Informed diplomat source from Foreign Ministry said communications are taking place with Libyan authorities to confirm the news circulated over the abduction of an Egyptian girl by gunmen in Benghazi.
 
The source told Al-Masry Al-Youm on Saturday that the task force formed by the ministry on the situation of Egyptians in Libya is following up with Libyan authorities on developments and working on quick release of the girl if proven to be abducted.
 
Libyan security sources earlier announced abduction of a 15-year old Egyptian girl called Mennatullah Walid Mohamed in Benghazi.
 
A security source from the city said on Saturday that authorities in question are following on investigations to reach the kidnappers.
 
Libya has become unstable since, the fall of their dictator Muammar Gaddafi. The security failure is highly seen in Benghazi where several security and military officials have been assassinated.
 
Kidnappings have become commonplace in Libya, with foreign officials often the targets. Since the start of the year, five Egyptian diplomats, a Tunisian diplomat and a South Korean trade official have been abducted. In February, Seven Egyptian Christians were found dead on the beach in the east.
 
Egypt has repeatedly warned Egyptians against travelling to Libya.
