Egypt’s Naval Forces thwarted the smuggling of eight tons of Cannabis in the western coasts on Wednesday, official spokesperson of the Armed Forces Tamer al-Refai stated.
Refai stated that the army had received a notification from the interior ministry about a suspicious fish boat sailing from Baltim in Kafr al-Sheikh to the country’s western coasts.
Naval forces found a drug shipment on the boat after pursuing it across the Mediterranean sea and forcing the crew to stop.
The forces also seized another fishing boat and its six crew in Ras al-Hekma, Marsa Matrouh after finding 55,000 unidentified packets of cigarettes.
The crew for the two boats has been referred to prosecution for investigation.
