Trump, Egypt’s Sisi discuss Libya, Sudanese situation



Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had a phone call with the US President Donald Trump on Thursday in which the two presidents discussed regional files and the Libyan situation. Trump asserted that his country will continue to support the efforts of the Libyan national army in combating terrorism and eliminating armed militias and organizations that threaten the security of Libya and the Mediterranean Sea region.

Spokesperson for Presidency Bassam Radi clarified that Trump stressed the importance of settling the Libyan crisis, which threatens the security of the Arab area.

Sisi also discussed the situation in Sudan and asserted that Egypt supports the will of the Sudanese people and takes the stance of non-intervention in the internal affairs of Sudan.

Sisi and Trump proclaimed the necessity of unifying international and regional efforts to help Sudan recover from the Sudanese crisis and to preserve the stability and security of Sudan.

Radi added that Sisi and Trump discussed the enhancement of bilateral strategic relations between the United States and Egypt in all fields.

Sisi offered congratulations for Trump and for the US people on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States on July 4.
