Administrative Control Authority has disclosed a case of corruption within the Egyptian Endowments Authority.
The authority’s official in charge of real estate property was found out to have used to seizing title deeds of lands owned by the ministry in Fayyoum as well as helping businessmen to seize these lands through fake contracts. He also took part in transfer of ownership of 35 plots estimated at LE120 million.
A citizen filed report to the Administrative Control Authority’s office in Fayyoum saying that the official in charge of real estate property asked him for money as bribe to help him seize a plot.
The official was arrested while taking LE10,000 as bribe.
Large amounts of title deeds were found at the official’s house.
The ministry said it was always surprised by buildings constructed over its lands and that it used to file lawsuits, but the documents always disappeared.
The ministry was notified to take legal measures to restore the lands.
