Eryan to Sisi: It’s over, coup failed, people won

Addressing Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Essam al-Erian, vice president of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, has said that the military coup has failed, and that the people have triumphed.

“It’s over,” he added. “The dream of the presidency and leadership over the country has evaporated.”

“The 25 January revolution was against tyranny, subservience to America, plundering the riches of Egypt, and begging from the Gulf,” he said.

He also said that there had been a year-long chance for the men of the “deep” state to comprehend the revolution, but that they have insisted on disrupting the path to democratization, then conspired to turn the clock backwards.

“In just one month, they have succeeded in convincing the majority of Egyptians and most of the world that the state will revert to the era of intelligence and security, corruption and murder,” he said. “And they have manifested it in the massacres that Egypt had never before seen.”

“They have returned to take revenge on the people who revolted after they were stripped of any initiatives to reform the July regime that was charted by the military,” he said.

“The question is, how long will it take Egypt to get rid of the legacy of domination, oppression, and a corrupt media and judicial system,” he said.
