The Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) wrote a message to Egyptian midfielder Mohammed al-Neny on Twitter to celebrate his birthday, writing that “We wish to see you in the Qatar World Cup in 2022.”
Niny, now 26, participated with the football team of Egypt in 3 matches in this year’s World Cup in Russia against Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Egypt lost the three matches, leaving the first round of the competition.
Neny signed a contract extension until 2022 with British football team Arsenal, the club officially announced in March. The player expressed his pleasure with the extension as Arsenal had been reportedly considering to sell him to another club during the summer of 2017 and winter 2018 transfers.
Neny started his career with Ahly’s juniors team before his transfer to Al-Mokawloon Sporting Club, which sold the player to FC Basel, which in turn sold him to Arsenal in 2016.
