Five people were killed, including three from one family, and seven others were injured in a collision between 12 vehicles in the Abu Saleh tunnel on the Beni Suef desert highway Wednesday.
Security officials inspected the scene of the multi-car crash Wednesday morning.
According to initial investigations, mist which hindered visibility caused the accident. A truck hit a car carrying six passengers from the same family in it. The family was traveling from Cairo to Beni Suef. The crash then caused a 10-car pile up.
The bodies of the victims and the injured were transferred to the hospital.
